About

Jacob Alden Cecil grew up in a house built in 1775 by his mother's ancestors on a 300 acre farm in Frederick, Maryland called “Dearbought.” The house and the land have been the seed of his work as an artist his entire life – from boyhood wanderings in cow pastures looking for arrowheads, to his sculptural work at the Maryland Institute College of Art, to his present photographic practice. He received a BFA in sculpture, then a Masters of Art in Teaching and since 2007 has been teaching art and photography at River Hill High School in Howard County Maryland.
